On 6 July 2023, the former President of the Federal Constitutional Court and Chairman of the Senate of the “Deutsche Nationalstiftung” Prof. Dr. Andreas Voßkuhle, presented Leila Weber and Andreas Knapp with “Deutsche Nationalstiftung 2023 Award” for their work with HANGARMUSIK.

"This year's German National Award goes to the painter and sculptor Anselm Kiefer. This world-class artist is one of the most important contemporary artists", “Deutsche Nationalstiftung” announced in Hamburg. "Kiefer belongs to the first generation of German artists who directly addresses the question of identity and nationhood after the war and the Holocaust."
This year's prize is shared by two orchestral projects for children and young people, HANGARMUSIK from Berlin and the DÉMOS Orchestra of the Paris Philharmonic.The awarding panel noted: "the orchestral projects open up an important intercultural learning space that promotes ideas of open-mindedness and a harmonious co-existence with others".
At the award ceremony, the HANGARMUSIK orchestra performed works by Jean-Baptiste Lully, Jean-Phillip Rameau and Gustav Mahler under the direction of Leila Weber.
